The sun has got its hat on- hip hip hip hooray
The last few days have gone in a flurry of sunshine, work and one minor stressful situation.
This week has certainly been about friends: a beautiful day sat out in the sunshine on a picnic blanket with one of my best friends, Keri and her beautiful Marley bear; a much needed skype session, with Miss Morgan who gave me the exciting news that she would be home from Spain for a few months in the summer, and a catch up session with the lovely Miss Spiller tomorrow on my lunch break whilst she visits Lyme from Plymouth. :)
The sun does wierd things to me- I love the warmth on my skin, the glitter I can see as I lay with my eyes closed and the blanket glow you feel from minor sunburn. It makes the world a happier place, people in the street are friendlier, drivers on the road are a bit more chilled, and driving home from stressful days at the office reminds you that there are still a few hours of outside time left in the garden to read a book and soak up the rays.
All I can say is thank god the sun is out. My new car which I have had only two months today has been playing up. So with no other option, I was forced to take a day off and book it into the garage. Unfortunately for me, the news wasn't good, when they called to say I could collect it but it needs a new clutch and flywheel.... BUGGA! Its gonna take a whole day to fix but they haven't got an available slot til Thursday- DOUBLE BUGGA!
Wouldn't be so annoyed, but i have a much needed week's holiday next week and was getting set to drive to North Devon to visit my dad, Becky and the two little brothers... excellent! Sods law really- I go to do something for a holiday for once and it busts. But that's life! I am just very grateful that my papa has agreed to pick us up and take us up there now, to save a risky drive there and back :)
Just two working days left until an entire week off--a rarity for me and something which allows me to keep my sanity and escape the news of East Devon for a short while, and think about trivial things- like sunbathing (fingers crossed for nice weather), drinking, eating and lots of relaxing. In my line of work, we always say its harder to take holiday than it is to stay and work- purely because every single bit of news that pops up, needs to then be covered by another reporter (who like me, is already running round doing a million and one things for their patch.) But its safe to say, its sorted, I am going away and I can let my body have a short rest before a crazy summer full of big events- the 100th Beer Regatta, Sidmouth Folk Week, Sidbury Fair, DAA week and then the madness of the East Devon Carnival Circuit!
Tomorrow my Jay is also going to cook dinner for me (for the first time, which is very exciting)- I am a rubbish cook- there is no point in me trying coz he'll end up with a stir fry, beans on toast, cheese on toast, spaghetti on toast, some other simple thing on toast or some average pasta dish.
Moroccan beef tagine and mango cheesecake sounds like a much better plan :)
Lots to look forward to :) Lets hope the sun keeps his hat on for as long as possible!!!
