A much needed catch up...

There are several reasons why my commitment to blogging has noticeably slipped. Firstly, my previous rant still stands- there seems to be a dial up connection speed in Chardstock, meaning just to load this page to actually write this blog alone, takes ageeeees. (Hence why I am regularly cutting and pasting into a word document, in case I lose my whole blog like I did a minute ago!)
Secondly, I was taking advantage of a much needed week's holiday- which has been absolutely divine- until I woke up this morning, and instantly remembered it was Monday and I had to go back to work- on a deadline day... GREAT :)
The holiday was a great success however and for once, I felt revived and felt that I had given it a good go to actually do something more than watch day time tv and sleep.

My week started off with a full day in the sunshine- in which I managed to complete a whole book, but also managed to fry myself like an egg. All in all, the first days holiday was all about making myself feel as uncomfortable as possible for the rest of it- with my sunburn shrivelled up knees in particular hurting like a b*tch. :/
Sunday welcomed yet more sunshine, which quite frankly, I was scared of even going out in without smothering myself in that much sun cream that I was flopping in and out of my sandals. But with the sun, came a much needed visit to North Devon to visit my dad, Becky and my two youngest brothers- always a treat for me :)
The beautiful views at Saunton Sands
With the car broken, I abandoned it in the middle of Axminster and hopped in the car, for our first stop- a picnic in Eggesford Forest, which in my eyes, feels like you have been dropped right in the middle of Twilight country. Tall shady trees, and pine needles, and darts of sunshine beaming their way onto the windy forest walks. The beauty was complimented with a scrummy lunch, and a walk, in which my super competitive dad managed to turn into a 'spot the beetle' competition. Its safe to say that I didn't find one beetle.
The rest of my visit went by in a flurry of yummy dinners, Sky TV, the most unbelievably yummy fish and chip lunch at Saunton Sands where I tried fish for the first time since I was like 9- (I STILL HATED IT), crazy country lane driving and an all round relaxing time, with more cups of tea than I usually drink in about a month!

On arrival home, Thursday brought with it a wonderful cosy day in with my lovely Keri and her Marley bear. We munched out, heckled at Jezza Kyle; bathed and dressed Marley in the most adorable Ralph Lauren outfit; had a good old gossip and then watched Shrooms. I've never been one for any kind of scary/horror film- I see no point in poisoning my mind with twisted frightening ideas; but I was ensured it would be okay- and to be honest... it was. It had an interesting twist at the end, and I found the whole concept very amusing- just a load of OTT American kids high off their asses on toxic magic mushrooms, that talk to cows and socialise with a couple of forest living inbreds ;) I must thank Keri though, because she welcomes me everytime with welcome arms, even when I arrive in the early hours of the morning, soggy from the rain and needing a cuppa after dropping my car off to the garage :) Love you girly.

Friday... its safe to say I did SWEET F.A. which was lush, and Saturday I was technically back to work, so I covered a few bits and bobs.
Sunday played host to Fathers Day which this year came in the form of a humongous bar of Dairy Milk Fruit and Nut- which unfortunately for dad, has already gone cause we all like it in this house!
It was also my cousin, Harry's birthday who turned the massive 19 :) With all the family there, we gathered for the most extreme amount of pizza. Literally the moment one was gone, another came out the oven. Followed by ridiculously childish ice cream sundaes- with mint choc chip and vanilla ice cream, and fudge, and sweeties and malteasers and chocolate buttons and jelly and sauce and whipped cream- THAT'S MY KIND OF PUDDING :)
This was followed by Harry Pottery Scene it- where my family once again turned into the noisiest rowdiest most competitive bunch of wallys and yet more naughty treats with birthday cake!!

Happy Birthday Harry!!!!!

The sheep that stare :)
To be fair, earlier in the day, I agreed that just once, Jay and I would accompany my parents on one of their crazy walks- which ended up being about an hour long and proved to all watching that i was super unfit! We walked through lanes and fields, managed to stumble across some sheep who stared intently until we left, an electric fence which everyone managed to cross simply- other than me who squealed like a child and over bridges where we played a good old fashioned game of pooh sticks. So with that epic bit of exercise in mind, I was allowed to pig out ;)

So yes- all in all, I think my week off was VERY successful- I got my car fixed, I finished a book, I spent time with Jay, and my family and one of my best friends and I actually had some time to shed my massive stress build up :)
Proof that everyone needs to take time out sometimes :)
