#Autumn Baby- my world is changing
The last time I posted, the sun was beaming: it was hot and sticky; my summer diet got thrown out the window and replaced with numerous barbecues and I had the prickly heat of sunburn etched into my shoulders and legs.
Even though the sun is still shining; I can feel the Autumn setting in- the nights getting cooler; the sun setting that little earlier; the rustle of the leaves on the trees as they blow in the wind and begin to crisp into golden browns and yellows.
I am an Autumn baby; October born and there is something about the red and brown spectrum of the Autumn, that makes me feel excited. Right now, I am feeling a childhood sense of excitement for Autumn- sort of a 'back to school vibe I guess.'
The last time I posted, I was a reporter for the View From; but as I think about the upcoming bank holiday; nerves are creeping in as I get set to start my new job for 'The Plus Club.'
The job will be based in Luppitt- somewhere I hadn't driven to before and so I took a little drive up there today to test the roads so my first day on Tuesday doesn't begin with me driving round some country lanes in sheer panic!
The company prepares children for secondary school and the eleven plus and since working as a reporter; I realised how much I love working with children and how interested I am in education.
This should be a great step for me and I believe it will be the next stepping stone for the 'Career of Miss Goldsbury' (still in progress.)
So yes, at the moment, I am excited... nervous...going through a massive period of change...looking to the future...still nervous...and most of all, looking forward to feeling like I am contributing to something which could transform my future for the better :)

I have had an amazing time as a reporter and have learnt so much- I can't even begin to think how many stories I have written; how many photos I have taken; how many papers have included my work; how many deadlines I have survived; how many council meetings forced me to drive angrily home in frustration; how many people inspired me; how many miles I drove; or how many hours I put in at every little waking village event.
But I have taken something away that I feel will be essential for my future- and that is the true meaning of COMMUNITY.
I have always said that the community minded villagers and townspeople that wear one billion and one hats for the benefit of others are the true stars. The most rewarding aspect of my job has been giving them a chance to shine and for them to be shown in the real spotlight.
I never enjoyed the sensationalism; the front page news and the reporting of events which you never want to cover. I hated the accidents; the deaths; the secrets the lies and the rumours created by human beings.
But I see how rewarding volunteering can be and how many people I helped during my time at the newspaper. I want to hold on to that. Run with it. And make sure that I take on the ethics of those MASSIVE community players by making a difference in the future.
Thank you to everyone who has been a good friend; shown me support; made me welcome or brought me into their communities and families over the last few years. You will remain in the centre of my heart for the rest of my life- in my brain like a huge advertisement poster for kindness and community. :)

With my new found community spirit and inspiration to play a part in transforming the world into a better place; I am pleased to announce some very exciting news. I WILL BE GOING TO UGANDA NEXT YEAR :) I am going with an amazing lady called Rosie Giles who has been visiting Uganda for a very very long time. I will be visiting families, meeting children; visiting schools and a special refuge for young women my age who have had an extremely tough life. I hope I can make my mark; make friends; experience something new and vivid and wonderful and above all, play my part in transforming their lives. As this is merely an announcement- I will be writing a blog in the next week or so to explain more about my trip so look out :)
Here is an article I wrote about Rosie a short while ago which will fill you in a little about some of the work that she does :) - http://www.viewfrompublishing.co.uk/news_view/23681/21/1/seaton-ex-teacher-devotes-her-life-to-the
